"Couldn't print" error on a Chromebook

This error could be caused by a few different issues with printing, but generally indicates an issue sending the page(s) to the printer. Here are some things to try if you see this:

 

Basics

First off, some simple things to check include:

  1. Make sure the Destination is set to your printer.
  2. If you're printing wirelessly, try using the provided USB cable.
  3. Try printing in Black and white instead of Color.

 

Print as image

In the print dialogue, click More settings, then scroll down and select Print as image:

 

 

Print to PDF

If that doesn't work, you can also try printing the file to a new PDF file, then try printing that file instead:

  1. Under Destination, select Save as PDF.
  2. Select Save in the lower right.
  3. Name the file something you can easily remember and click Save again.
  4. Find the file in the Tote in the lower right, then print it again, this time to your printer:
