If your Chromebook isn't turning on when you open it or press the power button, try the following steps:
Note: Some Chromebooks have a power button on the keyboard. Others have a power button on the side, like a phone or tablet.
- Plug in the Chromebook and ensure an orange or blue light appears somewhere on the side of the Chromebook. If not, try a different port on the Chromebook if possible or a different outlet on the wall.
- Leave the Chromebook plugged in for 20 to 30 minutes. Some models won't turn on until they've had time to charge. Then, attempt to power it on using the power button.
- Attempt to force-reset the Chromebook by holding the Refresh key and pressing the power button. You may need to keep both buttons held down for at least 10 seconds. This looks like the following on the keyboard:
