Windows has a series of key combinations you can press to do various things on your computer more quickly. These are mentioned when relevant in other articles, but here are a few useful ones:
- Press Alt + Tab to switch between apps.
- Press Windows key + Any Arrow Key to maximize, minimize, or tile apps to the left or right of the screen.
- Press Windows key + Tab to open the Task View. This shows all open apps and lets you create new desktops.
- If you have multiple desktops, use Windows key + Ctrl + Left or Right Arrow to quickly switch between them.
- Press Windows key + 1, 2, 3, ... to quickly activate windows on the taskbar. For example, if Chrome is first on your taskbar, pressing Windows key + 1 will open Chrome.
There are also a few general key combinations that work on most computers:
- Press Ctrl + P to print the current page, if possible.
- Press Ctrl + F to search for text on the current page in many apps.
- Press Ctrl + S to save work if applicable, and Ctrl + Shift + S to save a new copy in a different location.
