Start a new meeting using a Zoom Room

Getting started

Use these instructions to start a new meeting from one of GOAL's Zoom rooms, then invite other people to join in directly from the conference room tablet.

 

Note: These instructions are for if you do not already have a Zoom meeting or invite link, and would like to create one from scratch in the conference room. If you already have a meeting or link, please see the instructions in Join an existing meeting in a Zoom Room.

 

Zoom rooms consist of a tablet control panel underneath a TV.

  1. The tablet should already be turned on. If not, try tapping the screen.
  2. If the TV is not already on, turn it on using the remote.
  3. The TV should show a Zoom logo. If not, try using the Input button on the remote to switch to Zoom or HDMI.

Once that's done, you can start the Zoom meeting and invite others to it. Each of the steps below has a screenshot to show what to do.

 

Start the Zoom Meeting

  1. On the Zoom tablet, select the orange New Meeting button on the Home page:


     
  2. This should immediately start a new meeting, and show the familiar Zoom controls on the tablet. Make sure you're unmuted and that your video is enabled.

 

Invite others to the meeting

  1. To invite people to the meeting, tap the Invite button:

     
  2. If the person you're trying to invite works at GOAL, they should show up under the default Contacts tab.
    1. Search for their name with the search box on the left,
    2. Tap their name in the results, then
    3. Tap Invite in the upper right to send the invite.


       
  3. Alternatively, if the person you're trying to invite doesn't work at GOAL or don't show up in the Contacts list, then:
    1. Select the Email tab at the top,
    2. Enter their email in the To: field, then
    3. Send the invite by tapping Send:


       
  4. When someone joins the meeting, they will probably go into a waiting room like normal. You'll see a red icon appear next to the Participants button:


     
  5. Tap it to go to the Participants list, then tap Admit for each new user, as you would with a normal Zoom session:
